Stalybridge Hub is the Place for some Pre-loved Wheels

STALYBRIDGE is the Word this Friday (August 12) – not just for the next Town of Culture Street Fest but also if you want to buy a quality, fully-serviced, pre-loved bike for a child.

Between 2 and 6pm Manchester Bike Kitchen – a not-for-profit community interest company – will be hosting a sale at Stalybridge Hub, 65 Grosvenor Street, offering some great bargains.

You can pick up a toddler’s balance bike from £10 and a bike for a three to 12-year-old from £25. All payments must be by card.

If you already have a bike, bring it along for a free safety check and anti-theft marking.

Cllr Eleanor Wills, Tameside Council’s executive member for population health and wellbeing, and a representative for Dukinfield-Stalybridge ward, said: “Pre-loved bike sales are a wonderful idea and so good for the environment and personal wellbeing.

“Manchester Community Bike Kitchen work with Suez Recycling and Recovery to breathe new life into items people no longer need, providing a cheap way to enjoy a very healthy hobby and means of transport.

“It’s a fantastic initiative. Every child loves to cycle and sales like these make bikes more accessible and affordable. Well done to all involved."

Representatives of sustainable transport planning group Mosodi will also be at Stalybridge Hub, with a stall promoting cycling and walking routes commissioned by TfGM as part of the Mayor’s Challenge Fund. 

Town of Culture Street Fest takes place on the second Friday of every month (5 to 9pm), in and around Armentieres Square, featuring traders supplying a wide range of food and drink to suit all tastes, and against a background of live entertainment.
